GENERAL ABSOLUTION

Addressing the difficulty Catholic priests globally are having in hearing confessions of individual persons affected by the highly contagious coronavirus and with limits on people leaving their home, the Vatican issued a notice saying that it is acceptable for bishops to offer general absolution to groups of people as deemed necessary. The Apostolic Penitentiary stated that while individual confession and absolution is the normal means for the forgiveness of sins, “grave necessity” can lead to other solutions.

GENERAL ABSOLUTION AT ST. STEPHEN’S

• We will have a Bilingual Rite of Penance on Saturday April 4, at 4pm in the MIA parking lot. (24th  and 3rd Ave.)

• Please park in the parking lot and remain in your cars with the windows rolled up. Please do not leave the car.

• We will give you instructions on how to listen to Fr. Joseph from your cars.
