St. Stephen's is committeed to the Church's missionary mandate for all Her baptized children. Therefore we are active apostles, seeking to bring Christ to souls and souls to Christ, having first encountered Christ ourselves.
Summer missions were held in Peavey Park (Chicago and Franklin) with a time of fellowship through sharing a meal, then a time of praise, with then the arrival of Christ in the park for adoration.
During the time of adoration, the missionaries also went forth to speak with people there in the park, on the streets and in their homes. We were blessed to have had this time to share His love with those we encountered.
Here are a few photos from the Holy Week Missions of 2011 to help you be motivated to join us this year! We hosted a spring break camp for 50 kids from the parish on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and then were in Mission Swing Wednesday night with a sending off mass where the missionaries received their mission crosses, then door-to-door and in the park/ on the street missions Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday. At the Easter Vigil we had 7 baptisms, several confirmations and first communicants as well- Alleluia!!! Enjoy the photos!
